What Quantum Wallah is

Quantum Wallah is a free quantum computing education platform published at quantumwallah.com. It teaches quantum computing from zero through 36 short lessons organised into five tracks, each lesson built around a diagram and written to be read in about six minutes. The material is in English, is open to anyone, and requires no payment, no subscription, and no account.

The project began in 2025 with a straightforward premise: quantum computing is explained either in analogies that are too loose to be useful, or in linear algebra that assumes a physics degree. Quantum Wallah aims at the space in between, explaining the real mechanism using pictures first, and offering the mathematics as an optional track for anyone who wants the symbols as well as the ideas.

What it teaches

  • Quantum Computing Fundamentals (Beginner, 8 lessons) — What a qubit is, what happens when you look at one, and why any of it lets you compute faster.
  • Math Behind the Qubit (Essential, 8 lessons) — The small bit of school math behind the pictures. Entirely optional.
  • Quantum Algorithms (Intermediate, 8 lessons) — Grover, Shor, and the variational methods people actually run today, including where each one stops helping.
  • Quantum Cryptography (Intermediate, 6 lessons) — What quantum computers break, what they leave alone, and what is already replacing it.
  • Quantum Machine Learning (Advanced, 6 lessons) — Where quantum computing meets AI, and how to tell a real result from a press release.

Alongside the lessons, the Feynman Lab is an in-browser quantum circuit builder. You drag gates onto a wire, watch the state and measurement probabilities update as you go, and export the finished circuit as Qiskit or Cirq code to run on real quantum hardware.

Editorial stance

Lessons state plainly what quantum computers can and cannot do. Where a claim is contested or unproven, the lesson says so rather than rounding up to a cleaner story. Named results are attributed and dated. There is a lesson specifically on the limits — NP-complete problems, data-loading costs, and error-correction overhead — because a beginner course that omits them produces confident misunderstandings.

Who it is for

Students, software engineers, and curious beginners who want to understand quantum computing properly rather than through analogies. The project started with the goal of making India quantum ready, and that remains its focus, but the material assumes no particular location or curriculum.
